It is important for God’s people to stay connected to Him. Apart from Him, we can do nothing. As we are connected to God, we are able to do great and mighty things in His name. At times, we fail to recognize that we need to stay always connected. When we are disconnected, we have no power. No matter how skilled or learned we are unless we are totally connected to God, our work will never yield a bountiful increase. The scripture reference today is John 15:5.

“Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in Me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from Me you can do nothing.”

In this moving passage of scripture, we see Jesus, the Master Teacher speaking about the True Vine. He clearly states that we are the branches. He is also saying that all who remain in Him will produce much fruit. However, apart from Him, they can do nothing. His teaching centers around staying connected. Jesus tells them that His Father is the Gardener that cuts off every branch that does not produce fruit and prunes those that do bear fruit to produce more. This is a familiar story that is deep and profound. Remember who we are: simply branches, and we must, and underline must stay connected to the Vine.
