Spiritual Preparation
When we come up against the many battles in life, we must have the discipline and preparation to handle what comes our way. Therefore, we must prepare ourselves spiritually. We cannot depend on anything other than the power of God to help us. We must be fortified in our prayer strengthened with the Word of God. We cannot be weak, timid, or afraid, but we must have courage and strength in the Lord. In Matthew 25:10, we find these words:
“But while they were gone to buy oil, the bridegroom came. Then those who were ready went in with him to the marriage feast, and the door was locked.”
The Word of God tells of the parable of the ten virgins who were waiting for the bridegroom to arrive for the wedding banquet. Those who were prepared took lamps with extra oil. When the bridegroom came, those who had prepared went with the bridegroom; however, those who had not prepared did not have enough oil in their lamps, so their lamps were not lit, therefore they did not get to go with the bridegroom. The point of the parable is that if we do not prepare, we will not be ready for the Kingdom of God. We never know when the Lord is coming. We never know when the Lord will want to use us or when we will get an assignment. We need to always be prepared and be on guard. It is my prayer today that we are all prepared for whatever comes our way because tomorrow is not promised.
