SPIRITUAL PERSISTANCE

It is so important that we are persistent in our spiritual walk. How tragic it is that many believers fall apart at the least little thing. We are in a long, tedious battle that requires a strong and abiding faith. There are many stories in God’s Word that center on spiritual persistence. Today’s devotion is just one of those many biblical accounts. In I Kings 18:41, we find these words:

“Then Elijah said to Ahab, ‘Go get something to eat and drink, for I hear a mighty rainstorm coming!’”

The people built an altar of sacrifice, praying for rain, and worshiped the image of Baal, but nothing happened. Elijah built an altar, and prayed to God for rain, and the Lord blessed him. Verse 38 says the “fire of the Lord flashed down from heaven” and Verse 45 says, “A heavy wind brought a terrific rainstorm.” This happened because Elijah persistently called on the name of the Lord. His faith was stronger than his obstacles and He prayed knowing that the Lord would hear his prayer. It is my prayer today that we strive to be persistent in our spiritual walk.
