I want to be completely transparent and honest. There are times when I wrestle with the enemies within me. My own flesh sometimes gets in the way. There is a battle going on. Let me be clear — the battle is not always from outside enemies, but enemies on the inside. As Paul said in Romans 7:19 -20 (KJV), “For the good that I would, I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do.” Wow! I can totally relate to that. In Ephesians 6:12, we find these words:

“For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.”

Paul makes it clear that we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against the powers and rulers of darkness. Conflicts that are within us cause us to go against the will of God. I could write an entire book on this subject because we don’t talk about it much. We don’t like to deal with our internal enemies. Many of us are in denial of our own flesh. But, thanks be unto God that the battle is not ours, it’s the Lord’s. We are called to put on the whole armor of God and just stand (Ephesians 6:13.) By the power of God, we can be victorious over all of our enemies, those on the outside and those within.
