I wrote this devotion because I believe that all of us need a spiritual check-up to determine if we have really grown spiritually. In other words, we need to take an inventory of our spiritual lives. This is nothing new. When we take communion, I say, “But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup. For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord’s body.” (1 Corinthians 11:28-29 KJV) It is incumbent upon us to stop and check ourselves to make sure that we are growing. In Luke 2:52, we find these words:
“Jesus grew in wisdom and in stature and in favor with God and all the people.”
Jesus was about the Father’s business. His earthly ministry had taken Him many places. His knowledge was great and He was fully aware of what He was called to do. He never wavered from His responsibility as the Father’s Son. When you get a chance, read this entire chapter, then do a Spiritual check-up. Ask yourself if you have increased in wisdom, stature and in favor with God and the people. Prayerfully, we will all find that we have increased.
