SPEND TIME DEVELOPING RELATIONSHIPS
Relationships need to be developed. To have a strong relationship, you need to work at it. This is true even in our love relationships. It may have been love at first sight, but that alone is not enough to keep that relationship growing strong. It takes hard work for all relationships whether it is marriage, friendship or our relationship with God. It takes a great deal of time, effort and prayer, and yes, forgiveness. We need to spend time developing our relationships for they do not happen overnight. Today’s devotionals scripture is I John 4:7.
“Dear friends, let us continue to love one another, for love comes from God. Anyone who loves is a child of God and knows God.”
In this chapter, the writer speaks of the need to love one another, clearly indicating that love comes from God. Anyone who loves God and knows God knows that a relationship needs to grow and develop. The more we know about God, the more we love Him. Therefore, John writes that our relationship with God must grow and we must put the time in to discover God’s true love poured out for us. When you read this chapter, you see how much God loved us by sending His only Son that we might have eternal life. That is real love! The more we know about God, the more we come to love Him. There is no greater relationship in the world that compares to a relationship with God. So value that relationship. Work on that relationship and seek to know God in the fullness of His love
