Every child of God is special to God. It does not matter our color or education. All of us have been created in the image of our God. We each hold a special place in His heart. When we say Black Lives Matter, in no way does this indicate that other lives do not matter. We are simply saying that we, as African Americans are special to God and our lives matter to Him. This is not something to divide us, but to unite us. As an African American, I know I am special in His sight. He created and redeemed me. I also know that I am special to my family. We love each other. Let me say once again, people of all colors are special to God who created them. I pray that you will always view others as special in God’s sight. If no one ever calls you special or thinks that you are special, know that God loves you unconditionally. You are His child. Today’s scripture reference is found in Romans 8:15.

“So, you have not received a spirit that makes you fearful slaves. Instead, you received God’s Spirit when He adopted you as His own children. Now we call Him, ‘Abba, Father.’”

Paul, the humble servant of the Lord, speaks of our new relationship with God. God has given us the spirit of sonship; we are His children. Paul makes it clear that the spirit you have received is not the spirit of slavery, causing you to live in fear, but the spirit of adoption. We can say, “Abba Father.” The spirit bears witness with God’s Spirit, because we are special, unique children of God. We have a heavenly Father who loves and cares for us. His Spirit has freed us from the bond of sin. That ought to cause us to shout. If no one in this whole world thinks of us as being special, God does. So, walk with your head up. Know that you are set free by the hand of God, and that you are heir to His riches.
