Sowing Generously

God blesses those who are generous in their giving. The more you give, the more He gives to you. There are many words in the Bible that speak about giving generously. Giving should come from our hearts because we, as believers, know that God loves a cheerful giver (2 Corinthians 9:7). In 2 Corinthians 9:6, we find these words:

“Remember this—a farmer who plants only a few seeds will get a small crop. But the one who plants generously will get a generous crop.”

Paul indicates that rewards are given in proportion to the degree of generosity. He emphasizes in verse 6 that someone who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly —in other words, they will get limited benefits. But he who sows bountifully will receive a bountiful blessing. Read this chapter when you get a chance. We must keep in mind that we are not in competition with one another; to whom much is given much is required. If we only have a little, then give a little, but give it willingly. If we have much, then give much, and give it willingly. There is nothing like a joyful giver. Always remember, all we have comes from God. Consequently, we are called upon to give with a grateful heart.
