Believers are called to show God’s love. We do this by extending ourselves to others. Love is an action word. It is not so much about what we say, but what we do that counts. We can never stop loving God’s people. It can be hard at times, for love is a great sacrifice. Our love for others is not based upon what they do for us, but rather how we bless others. Today’s scripture lesson is in Galatians 6:9.
“So, let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will, reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up.”
Paul, the humble servant of the Lord, clearly tells us that we harvest what we sow. He was concerned that the people would get weary of doing that which is right and good. He knew that, at the right time, a harvest of blessings would come. He said that whenever we have the opportunity, we should do good to everyone. Underline that word, everyone. We cannot pick and choose whom we should love and bless. So, Paul wrote to everyone, especially those in the family of faith. Even in the family of faith, we have individuals with different personalities. We should love them as God loves us. Our love for God is shown in how we love others. May we, as God’s people, never get tired of doing what is right, knowing that God will bless us in due time.
