This devotion should cause us to give God praise. We have been set free from sin. The blood of Jesus Christ has washed our sins away. God has given us the power to overcome sin. Not only that, our sins do not have to haunt us. It is amazing that there are those who remind us of what we used to do. They remember our mistakes and sins as if they do not have any themselves. But, when God forgives us, it is never brought up again and we have a clean slate. We no longer walk in the flesh for we live in the spirit. Whom the Lord sets free is free indeed. If you are not praising God now, take a moment and reflect on the many blessings you have received. We are good at thanking God for material blessings, and we should. Every child has received forgiveness when confessing personal sins to the Lord. There are no longer chains holding us. Romans 8:1 is our devotional scriptural reference:

“So now there is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus.”

This passage reveals the new life in Christ. In this first verse, we see the blessings that come from the Lord. Paul outlines the nature of a victorious life: a life with no condemnation. We see God’s saving power. Deliverance has come. A new way of living. Do not overlook verse two where Jesus has set us free from the law of sin. What the Law could not do, God did! Take the time to thank the Lord for releasing us, saving us from the penalty of sin, which is death.  We are new creatures in Christ; old things are passed away. All things are new.
