SERVING THE LORD WITH PASSION

The one word that speaks to my heart when it comes to ministry is passion. I believe that we should do everything with passion. Too many people serve God as if they are doing Him a favor. They lack, passion, enthusiasm, and zeal. They are just going through the motions. We are called to serve the Lord with our hearts, souls, and minds. We ought to be passionate about the opportunity God has given to us. Yesterday’s devotions focused upon godly gifts. They are to be used with passion and creativity. Whatever you do, do it with passion and spirit. Don’t be lackluster about anything you do for the Lord. Be excited that God is using you. No matter how small or large the task is, do it with everything within you. I have said to the church when the time comes and you see this pastor with no passion, it is time to call another pastor. I want God to know how much I appreciate what He is doing in my life. My gratitude to Him is also expressed with passion. I get excited in worship. I have been called animated, but that is okay. I know what the Lord has done for me. Do not allow others to define how you ought to worship or serve. Today’s devotion is Psalm 122:1.

“I was glad when they said to me, ‘Let us go to the house of the Lord.’”

The psalmist begins with passion and excitement. He declares how grateful he is to go to the House of the Lord and worship. His heart overflows with joy. He has a song of praise in his heart and on his lips. This pilgrim is grateful for the opportunity to travel to the House of the Lord one more time to worship. The road he traveled as a pilgrim was dangerous, yet he was aware of God’s protection on his journey. He looked forward to being in this place of worship. Our weekly troubles, sorrows and sicknesses make us appreciate entering into the House of God. It is good to be able to live-stream service and share on social media, but there is nothing like being in the House of God to praise His holy name. When the doors of the church are open, be like the psalmist and say, “I was glad when they said unto me, let us go into the House of the Lord.
