SERVE WITH JOY
Unfortunately, when those with little or no joy serve the Lord, it is evident in their service. Some think they are doing God a favor; consequently, they have little or no joy. It is a blessing and joy to be used by an incredible God. It is my prayer today, that you are grateful that God has allowed you to serve Him, and you have joy when you serve Him and His people: no one has to beg or prompt you, but you do it with a joyful heart. Our devotional text today is Acts 20:24:
“However, I consider my life worth nothing to me; my only aim is to finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me–the task of testifying to the good news of God’s grace.”
In the previous verse, Paul, the humble servant of the Lord calls upon the people to repent. He speaks about the power of the Holy Spirit. In verse 24, a faithful Paul gives all glory and honor to God for what He has allowed him to accomplish, not boasting on his own. He counts it all joy; even the heartache and pain experienced in his Christian ministry. Paul realizes that there are those who will not see him anymore. Yet, he declares that his preaching and teaching has brought him joy. He does not complain of the many hardships that he has experienced. His heart is bubbling over with the blessings he has received. What a wonderful testimony. Prayerfully, that could be the testimony for all of us. As we look back over our walk with God, we can say that the joys outweigh the sorrow that it has been well worth it to serve God and His people. May you be blessed today as you continue to serve Him with joy and gladness in your heart.
