SERVE THE LORD WITH PASSION
When we serve the Lord, it should be done with enthusiasm, zeal, and passion, because it is a blessing to be used by God. When we take the time to reflect on all that God has done in our lives, it should cause us to serve Him with all our hearts, souls and minds. Some of us believe that we are doing God a favor when we serve Him. As a result, we have little enthusiasm or zeal, and we lack passion. Let me be clear —I am not trying to be self-righteous or judgmental. When we serve the Lord with passion, it shows. We become a light in the darkness. In Ephesians 6:7, we find these words:
“Work with enthusiasm, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people.”
The writer pens these words so that the people will serve the Lord sincerely, not to please people, but to please the Lord, and give God their best. He wants them to have passion about the work that they do and to honor the Lord with all that is in them. He also tells them, in verse 8, that God will reward them for all that they do. It is my heart’s desire, that when we come to the end of our journey, we will have each served the Lord with enthusiasm, zeal, and passion so that we will hear Him say, as in Matthew 25:21, “Well done, my good and faithful servant!”
