SAY NO TO THE DEVIL

When the devil comes our way, and he will, we must say “No.” We cannot allow ourselves to give in to Satan. Let me be clear: Satan has power, and he can make things seem so attractive. But his power does not match God’s power. Yet, the flesh is weak. All of us must be careful, otherwise we will find our-selves saying “yes” to the devil. He catches us at our weakest moments. But we can resist the devil by putting our faith and trust in God. The devil is real, and he shows up in places where we are comfortable. He comes into our homes, and even comes into our churches. No matter when or where he shows up, we must say “No” — and mean it! In James 4:7, we find these words:

“So, humble yourselves before God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.”

James begins by saying, “Humble yourself before God.” The devil takes great delight in those who are proud and arrogant. Resist the devil. That is another way of saying “No” to the devil. Then he says, “Come close to God, and God will come close to you.” James is clear that God opposes the proud but gives grace to the meek. We must humble ourselves before the Lord, and the Lord will bless us. We need to allow God to walk with us. We need to allow God to touch our lives, and He will bless us. We should not allow the devil to come into our lives; but we should stay close to God. We need to humble ourselves in the Lord, say “Yes” to things that please Him, and say “No” to the devil!
