RESURRECTION SUNDAY – THE GLAD AND GOOD NEWS
This is a grand and glorious day! We are celebrating the resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Perhaps for the second year in a row we might not be able to attend Sunrise Services, or for that matter services throughout the day. But that does not take away today’s significance. We serve a Risen Savior who is in the world today. This is glad news. We need that hope for we live in a world filled with gloom and doom. Today, we have reason to hope and live. We have reason to shout for joy. Don’t let this day pass and you not express your gratitude to God for the grand news that, He Lives. Jesus Christ lives, reigns and rules. Matthew 28:6 is our scripture reference on this glorious day.
“He isn’t here! He is risen from the dead, just as He said would happen. Come, see where His body was lying.”
We read that early on Sunday morning, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary visited the tomb. When they arrived, there was a great earthquake, and they were afraid. The angel spoke to the women and said, “Do not be afraid. I know you are looking for Jesus who is crucified. He is not here. Come see the place where He was lying.” The women were filled with great joy and went to tell the message. Prayerfully, we will tell everyone the message that Jesus Christ lives. Because He lives, we shall live. Let us praise the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. May we be encouraged by the wonderful news – the glad and good news. In the words of the Reverend Leonard Smalls who has gone home to glory. “Tell it! Tell it! Tell it wherever you are.”
