During this summer season, as you plan to perhaps take a vacation or relax, just rest. Take the time to rest in His care. We all need a break every now and then to get away, renew and refresh. Life’s troubles can drain us. Even when we are working and enjoy our work, we still need time to be at peace and just rest. Let me add. You can take a fabulous vacation and still not rest. The travel and planning, but real rest comes from the Lord. You can stay at home, and rest in His care. There is nothing like the rest that the Lord gives. You can rest today. Psalm 62:5 is our text and speaks to rest.

“Let all that I am wait quietly before God, for my hope is in Him.”

The psalmist spends quiet time with God. He has quiet rest. His soul waits in silence. He is resting in the arms of the Lord. He says, “He alone is my rock and my salvation, my fortress where I will not be shaken.” The psalmist is determined not to retreat, but to be still before God. Throughout this psalm, he tells the people to trust God at all times and for them to pour out their heart before Him. The psalmist knows that when he rests in the Lord, he will find the care and rest that he needs. Praise God. Today, we can rest in His care for He is truly our strength in the times of trouble.
