RESIST THE DEVIL
As believers, we must always be on guard, because the devil is busy. I have said on more than one occasion, “If the devil is not bothering you, then obviously you are not bothering him.” The devil wants to steal our joy and take from us the things that God has called us to do. The devil will show up in many ways —don’t look for him with a red suit and a pitchfork; he’s smarter than that. His disguises are many, and he will catch us off guard when we least expect him. It is so important that we, as believers have strong faith in God in order to resist any temptation from the devil. In James 4:7, we find these words:
“So, humble yourselves before God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.”
James writes about the importance of remaining humble, encouraging the people to stay close to God. He wants them to honor God with their lives, live according to His Word, and resist evil. He references humility often throughout this chapter. When you get a chance, read this entire chapter. Prayerfully, we all have the strength to resist the devil no matter how many times he comes our way.
