On this Thanksgiving weekend, remember God today! Perhaps, you are out shopping and taking advantage of the sales. Maybe you are watching a football game or doing something else that will bring you pleasure. But, whatever you do, remember God today. Do not become too busy with other things that you forget the Giver of everything. Take time to acknowledge and thank Him. My grandmother would say, “Don’t forget the bridge that brought you over.” God has brought us this far, therefore, do not suffer from amnesia and forget where you have come from. Jeremiah 2:32 speaks of this in his text.

“Does a young woman forget her jewelry, or a bride her wedding dress? Yet for years on end my people have forgotten me.”

In this passage, the people have forgotten Yahweh. He has blessed Israel, yet, in this case, they have somehow forgotten the blessings they have received. They need to be reminded for they are complaining against God. So, the question is posed, “Can a maid forget her ornaments or a bride her attire?  Yet my people have forgotten me.” The Lord wants to call their selfishness to their remembrance, reminding them of precious things that one does not forget. He references the bride, but it could also be the groom forgetting his tuxedo, ring or marriage license: the important things pertaining to a wedding. But, do not forget the one who allowed you to meet, fall in love. Don’t forget the one who has created and blessed you. The list of things we do are those things valuable to us. But, no one is more special than God. Remember Him today.
