REJOICING IN OUR RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD
I have written so many times regarding our early Morning Prayer line. It has constantly reminded me of my relationship with God. To begin each day in communion, dialogue, and with conversation with Him sets my heart aglow. When we begin the prayer line, it is with a prayer of adoration to thank God for being a mighty awesome God. This relationship cannot be broken. I did not deserve this relationship nor did I initiate it. The reality is, we did not choose Him but He chose us. When I think about the love and mercy God extends to me, I find myself rejoicing every day. There is a portion of scripture in Romans 5:11 that speaks about this deep and profound relationship. The words read in this manner:
“So now we can rejoice in our wonderful new relationship with God because our Lord Jesus Christ has made us friends of God.”
Paul speaks of being reconciled to God through our Lord, Jesus Christ. Paul knew that he did not deserve to be set free from sin. Because Christ died then rose from the grave we have received the gift of reconciliation. We have been justified by Christ’s blood and therefore brought into a right relationship with the Father. This relationship has given Paul joy that he cannot receive from anywhere else. He knows that apart from Christ, he has no real joy. This joy is flowing from his heart. His emotional experience with God has touched his heart, soul, and mind. It is my prayer today that you can rejoice over your relationship with God. Think of all of the relationships you have with family and friends. As valuable as those relationships are, these cannot compare to the love of God. It is a relationship that will last throughout all of eternity. Thanks be to God for His unending love.
