REJOICE IN GOD’S WORD

Every time the Word of God is preached, taught, or read, it causes our hearts to rejoice. When the Word of God finds its way into our hearts, an unspeakable and indescribable joy resides in us. When we go through trials or troubles, Psalm 30:5 reminds us that weeping may last through the night, but joy comes with the morning. This gives us hope for the new day. All passages of scripture will bless our souls; however, the Word must always find its way into our hearts. We cannot sit under the Word and remain cold and hard-hearted. When our hearts and minds are open, the Word will come forth like the freshness of the dew in the morning. In Jeremiah 15:16, we find these words:

“When I discovered your words, I devoured them. They are my joy and my heart’s delight, for I bear your name, O Lord God of Heaven’s Armies.”

In verses 11 through 15, Jeremiah has a conversation with the Lord, telling Him that for His sake he has suffered. However, in verse 16, he speaks of the joy in his heart. That joy comes from the Word of God. Jeremiah developed a relationship with God that caused him to rejoice even in the midst of being cast aside by his enemies. His heart’s desire is that God will uphold him. When you get a chance, read this incredible story. Rejoice and thank God for His Word! Prayerfully we will keep His Word forever hidden in our hearts.
