Real Joy
God desires that we live peaceful, prosperous lives; yet, unfortunately, trials and tribulations are on every hand. Those are the times when we must ask the Lord for the strength to endure. Real joy is found in hearts filled with gratitude for the blessings received from the Lord. We know that He is an on-time God that answers prayers! In Psalm 35:27, we find these words:
“But give great joy to those who came to my defense. Let them continually say, ‘Great is the Lord, who delights in blessing His servant with peace!’”
The psalmist beseeches the Lord to have mercy upon him. He appeals to God to silence those who have sought to cause him harm. He wants the Lord to move on his behalf because his cause is a righteous cause. He knows the power of evil is not as great as the power of God. Therefore he has real joy because he has discovered the power of God. Prayerfully, we will all experience that real joy, the same as the psalmist. It’s a real joy, not a temporary joy, but a real joy that only God can give.
