There are battles that we encounter as we serve the Lord. Consequently, we must always be ready. We can never be caught off guard. Our battles will come from different directions and uncertain times. The good news is that when we are ready, no matter how difficult it may be, we can be victorious. We must always have our armor on, be prayed up, and be ready to fight our foes. The scripture today is II Timothy 1:7 and reads in this manner.

“For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline.”

We see Paul writing to his son in the ministry, Timothy, encouraging him to be faithful. He looks forward to seeing Timothy again and he remembers the faith of Timothy’s grandmother Lois, and mother Eunice. Paul wants Timothy to keep within him, the strength that they had. Paul knows there are battles Timothy will face, nevertheless. Through his faith and the power that God has given to him, he need not fear. Paul wants him to stay strong in the Lord and not to waver when he meets the enemy. He advises Timothy prior to the fight saying hold on to the teaching that he has received in Christ. Timothy is not to compromise but remain faithful in the Lord. I pray that you can say that you are fired up and ready to go.
