I am blessed to be a member of the Blue Bell Rotary. The Rotary is a group of men and women who serve others. In fact, their mission is “Service above Self.” They seek to make a difference in the lives of all people. They are aware that there will be obstacles, barriers, and battles along the way. Nevertheless, they are fired up and ready for battle. I believe with all my heart that believers ought to be fired up and ready for battle. Anytime you seek to serve the Lord, there will be battles to fight. We ought to be prepared for battle. Today’s devotion in Psalm 18:2 clearly speaks of battle readiness.

“The Lord is my rock, my fortress, and my savior; my God is my rock, in whom I find protection. He is my shield, the power that saves me,    and my place of safety.”

The psalmist speaks assuredly about the Lord’s strength. He cries in distress, knowing that the Lord is willing and able to stand with him in battle. He is prepared, for the Lord is his protective shield. He is surrounded by devastation and destruction. The psalmist is ready because his devotion and commitment is to God. He is not afraid. Rather, he is fortified by God’s power. He has prayed, and his prayers have given him strength. My fervent prayer today, is that before you engage in battle you are fortified and strengthened by the hand of God. You have prayed. You have fasted and sought the Lord and now you are ready, and you can say, “I am fired up and ready to go.”
