Put Away Evil

I recently heard a powerful sermon preached around sin. In that sermon, the preacher indicated how we have changed the name of sin in an attempt to compromise the Word of God. He gave a list of things that we do that we do not refer to as sin. As I reflected, I thought about evil and how sinful it is. It is an
insult to God, and it causes great damage to His people. The Word is clear in Proverbs 23:7, “For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he.” (KJV) We have been called by God to put away evil and there are many passages of scripture that speak of the need to depart from it. In Psalm 34:14, we find these words:

“Turn away from evil and do good. Search for peace, and work to maintain it.”

Throughout this psalm, the psalmist speaks of the need to keep our tongue and eye away from evil. We have been called upon to do good and to pursue peace. To please God, we must keep our hearts clean and open to Him. It is my prayer today that there is nothing between our souls and our Savior. Put away evil, because evil is sin. I pray that we all will try to live a holy and righteous life, and that our hearts have been transformed by the love of God.
