One of the qualities that every believer should possess is perseverance. We should never stop pressing for the mark of Christ Jesus. We will face obstacles, roadblocks and setbacks, but we must have the fortitude to stay in the race. We must continue to press on daily. We should not allow anything to stop us from moving forward. In Philippians 3:13, we find these words:

“No, dear brothers and sisters, I have not achieved it, but I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead.”

Paul expresses determination and faith, making it clear that he has not yet obtained perfection. He indicates, however, that we must continue to forge beyond those things that are behind us and reach forward to those things ahead. We cannot press on if we hold on to past mistakes, failures or missed opportunities. The image of the race is painted in detail. Prayerfully we will be encouraged to know that there is a reward for all who seek to follow Christ. Make a commitment today, no matter what, to press on.
