Powerless
Thank God for the power that He grants to us. With His power, we are able to do great and mighty things in His name. Regardless of our abilities, without His power, we can do nothing. It does not matter how intelligent or astute we may be, or how many degrees we may have, unless the Lord breathes upon us, we have no power. We will fail miserably anytime the Lord takes His power from us. In Judges 16:20, we find these words:
“Then she cried out, ‘Samson! The Philistines have come to capture you!’ When he woke up, he thought, ‘I will do as before and shake myself free.’ But he didn’t realize the Lord had left him.”
We know the story of Samson and Delilah. We know that Samson, a Nazarite, was a mighty man, and we know how Delilah eventually got him to tell her the secret to his strength and she betrayed him (v 17-19). The Philistines challenged Samson, and when he awoke from his sleep, he was determined to engage in battle with them. However, he did not know that the Lord had left him and he was powerless. Read the rest of the story to see what happened. His strength was gone and he no longer was a match for the Philistines. He had engaged in a midnight rendezvous and allowed Delilah to seduce him. His strength was taken away as he turned from God. Don’t be enticed by the flesh! Stay in the will of God because one bad decision can cause the loss of power. Stay connected to the power source – and make sure that power source always comes from God!
