This is one of my favorite scriptures. All things work together for the good of those who love the Lord. It does not mean everything is good, but something good can come out of everything. Look back over your life and think of things that were not necessarily good, but God made something good out of them anyway. Those situations taught us some valuable lessons. We learned to pray and to depend on God. I wish I had the words to make this clearer: All things work together for good according to God’s purpose. Remember those words whenever you are going through a difficult time. In Romans 8:28, we find these words:
And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.
The writer knows God causes everything to work together. The Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness. God wants us to pray for the Holy Spirit because those who are controlled by the Holy Spirit think about things that please the Spirit. The writer also tells us that nothing can separate us from God’s love. These words remind us of God’s promise. Nothing can separate us from the love of God. What God promises,
He will deliver. Nothing, but nothing can ever separate us from the love of God. What a powerful promise!
