Pleasing God

I remember preaching a sermon about pleasing people. No matter how much we try, we cannot please everyone. Somebody will always find fault with us, no matter what we do. Instead of trying to please people, why not put that energy into pleasing God? When we please God, we feel a sense of fulfillment. In Galatians 1:10, we find these words:

Obviously, I’m not trying to win the approval of people, but of God. If pleasing people were my goal, I would not be Christ’s servant.

Paul tells the people how they can become a believer and remain committed. There were those who had different theological beliefs, but Paul’s passion for the Lord enabled him to handle his critics. His single purpose was to live for Christ, by serving God’s people and pleasing the Lord in every way. Those who questioned his authority or commitment did not deter him. It is my prayer today that we do everything to please God and not man or woman. He, and He alone, is worthy of all the praise!
