PAY ATTENTION TO THE WARNINGS
God gives us warnings — we must pay attention to them. God has a way of warning us of what lies ahead. His love for us is so deep that He does not want us to fall into the hands of the enemy. He warns us of the troubles and trials that may come our way to prevent us from falling. Unfortunately, many of us ignore His warnings. My grandmother used to say things like, “Don’t play with fire. It will burn you” to keep me from causing harm to myself. Another warning she gave me was, “Be careful of the company you keep.” That was a warning to stay away from people who did not mean me any good.
God used her to warn me from falling into the pits of Hell.
In Proverbs 25:12, we find these words:
“To one who listens, valid criticism is like a gold earring or other gold jewelry.”
The writer speaks about the warnings that one must pay heed.. Throughout this chapter, he gives warnings, such as “Don’t demand an audience. It’s better to wait for an invitation to the head table than to be sent away in public disgrace. When arguing with your neighbor don’t betray another person’s secret. Others may accuse you of gossip, and you will never regain your good reputation; And do not visit your neighbors too often, or you will wear out your welcome.” When you get a chance, read this chapter. There are so many warnings that we must heed! I close with this, “As surely as a north wind brings rain, so a gossiping tongue causes anger!” Pay attention to the warnings!
