When I read the text for today’s devotion, I was overwhelmed, for I never thought about what it meant to be overtaken by blessings. God has a way of showering us with blessings that we cannot even comprehend. Everything that we see, hear or touch is a blessing from God. In Deuteronomy 28:2, we find these words:

‘“You will experience all these blessings if you obey the Lord your God.’”

The writer of these deep and profound words begins this chapter by telling the people of all the blessings they will receive if they walk with, and obey God. Verses 3 -6 say, ‘“Your towns and fields … children and crops …  offspring of your herds and flocks… fruit baskets and breadboards… Wherever you go and whatever you do, you will be blessed.’” Please understand, it is not so much about the rewards, but rather the conditions that must be met to receive these blessings. Verse 1 reads, “If you fully obey the Lord your God and carefully keep all His commands that I am giving you today, the Lord your God will set you high above all the nations of the world.”  When we follow the Lord’s will and way, we shall be overtaken by blessings from on high.
