OUR SECRET SINS
There are secret sins that we have committed that still continue to haunt us. As much as we try to forget about them, they remain fresh in our memories. Although these sins may be hidden from others, God knows all about them. Sin separates us from God, so it is imperative that we confess all of our sins to Him and ask for His forgiveness. Even David, a man after God’s own heart, had some secret sins that he had to confess to God. In 2 Samuel 12:13, we find these words:
“Then David confessed to Nathan, ‘I have sinned against the Lord.’ Nathan replied, ‘Yes, but the Lord has forgiven you and you won’t die for this sin.’”
David confessed the things that he had done in secret, for he knew that the only way to be forgiven was through repentance. Because David recognized his guilt and confessed his sin, God, in His grace, saved him from death. The good thing is that God will do the same for us. Whether those sins are done in secret or in public, we serve a God who loves us unconditionally. There is no sin that He will not forgive if we confess it to Him. We should never let sin separate us from the love of God. When we confess all of our sins to God, we have the assurance of His endless grace.
