Today’s devotion focuses on our first love. God loved us first. We should never forget that. Oh, I know that there are those who say that they have fallen in love with God, but God’s love for us was present, even when we were disobedient, living our lives in sin. His love was always present. No one’s love compares to His love for us. There are those who love us because of their perceptions of us. But the minute that we fall short of their expectations, they fall out of love with us. God’s love for us is constant. He has a never-ending love that will never let us go. We can love others because of His love for us. The scriptures make this clear in I John 4:19.

“We love each other because He loved us first.”

The writer makes it clear that God loved us first and that when someone says they love God and hate another believer, they are not telling the truth. God has given us the commandment that those who love God must love fellow believers. God is love and all that live and love, live in God and He in them. There is no greater love than this that, He who lays down His life for His people. That is His love for us. He gave His son Jesus Christ who suffered and died. That’s love! Prayerfully, today, you are grateful for God’s love and that you love Him and others. Prayerfully, you have that agape love, that unconditional love that allows you to forgive and to be free and open to receive all that God has in store for you.
