We have a friend in Jesus who sticketh closer than a brother. He is our best friend that will never leave nor forsake us. He is the friend we spoke of yesterday, who loves us, not based upon what we do but who we are. As believers, we have one true and best friend who loves at all times. John 15:13 speaks of this friend:

“Greater love has no one than this, that one should lay down his life for his friends.”

In this moving passage of scripture, we see Jesus healing the man who had lain by the pool for 38 years. This sick man laid by the pool year after year and no one came to befriend him. Jesus healed him and told the man to pick up his bed and walk. The religious leaders criticized the Master for healing this man on the Sabbath. Nevertheless, Jesus would not allow criticism to deter him from blessing this sick man who needed a friend. Jesus was that true friend. Others had walked away and passed him by. But! Jesus stopped and blessed this man. That is what a true friend does. He will not allow criticism to stop him from blessing you. The songwriter wrote, “What a friend we have in Jesus, all our sins and grief to bear. What a privilege to carry everything to God in prayer.” I pray today, that you know beyond a shadow of a doubt that you have a friend named Jesus who has the power to heal, restore and bless you. Be strengthened today by your wonderful friend, Jesus
