I do not know why but at times, a song comes to mind when I write these devotions. These words ring in my heart “open your mouths to the Lord.’ I do not know the song in totality, but I know those words carry truth. Open your mouths to the Lord. Let the Lord know that you love, praise and serve Him. Let the Lord know you are grateful for the blessings He has given to you. God’s Word is clear. “Let everything that has breath praise the Lord”. So when you open your mouth, praise Him. Psalm 40:9 is our scripture lesson.

“I have told all your people about your justice. I have not been afraid to speak out, as you, O Lord, well know.”

The psalmist shares his heart with God. He takes great joy in doing the Lord’s work, for God’s instructions are written in his heart. He has spoken aloud how great and glorious God is. When he opened his mouth, he was not afraid to speak. He has not kept the good news of God’s tremendous love hidden in his heart. He talks clearly about God’s saving power. He said I have told everyone about God’s grace and held nothing back. Although surrounded by trials, he still had a testimony and opened his mouth about God. The psalmist opened his mouth and mind and gave God praise. I hope that you are like the psalmist and cannot keep God’s goodness and kindness in your heart. You are not ashamed to praise Him no matter where you are. Open your mouth and let God know that you are truly grateful.
