I remember the song, “He’s an On-Time God” very well. This is not just a song but it’s
a fact. God shows up, just on-time. We should never allow ourselves to feel as if God
has abandoned us and there is no need for us to walk in His way. I believe with all my
heart that we, as a people of God, are called to live lives that will make Him proud. We
need to humble ourselves. I realize that it may be hard to do, but God will bless us if we
do. We sometimes try to get ahead of God, feeling that His progress is slow, working
on our behalf. But I’m a witness this morning that the God we serve will bless us if we
just stay under His will and way, and He will bless us right on-time! In 1 Peter 5:6, we find these words:
“So humble yourselves under the mighty power of God, and at the right time he will lift you up in honor.”
The writer makes it clear that God gives grace to the humble. He calls upon the people
to remain humble, telling them that in due time God will bless them. If you read more about this story, you will find that he cautions the people to stay alert and watch out for the devil, again reminding them that God will be with them. When you get a chance, read this entire chapter. Prayerfully, none of us will try to move faster than God, but we will put our trust in Him and have faith that we serve an On-Time God who will supply all our needs, according to His Riches and His Glory.
