Obeying God

There are times in our lives when we must obey God regardless of the cost. We cannot be concerned about pleasing people and forget who we must ultimately please – God. Everyone will not always support us even as we try to obey God. However, we must know that God is with us.  In Acts 5:29, we find these words:

But Peter and the apostles replied, ‘We must obey God rather than any human authority.’

Peter says without hesitation or reservation that we must obey God rather than man. The people had a choice to make and they made it. Prayerfully, we have all made our choice of whom we will serve. Conflict comes when we try to straddle the fence, when we try to be on God’s side and on the side of people. We must be like Joshua who said, “But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” (Joshua 24:15). God does not force Himself on us for we have been given free will to make decisions. Throughout God’s Word, we are reminded that we should, and we must, obey God. Let us always choose to obey God.
