NOW IS THE TIME
There is a sense of urgency that God expects when He calls upon us. There are so many people who are hurting and crying out for help. Everywhere we go, we see signs of despair. We need a life-saving Word from the Lord. The call for our response is now! This is not just for the preacher, but also for every believer. The reality is that we are all ministers of the gospel; a call to preach is on all of our lives.
Today’s devotion describes how the Lord spoke to one of His servants. In Isaiah 61:1, we see:
“The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is upon me, for the LORD has anointed me to bring good news to the poor. He has sent me to comfort the brokenhearted and to proclaim that captives will be released and prisoners will be freed.”
The writer speaks of bringing about good tidings. Isaiah says that the Lord has anointed, called, and sent him to proclaim the year of the Lord. The call comes with the equipping of the Spirit, bringing God’s presence and power to call those into remission of sin. It opens up the prison to those who are bound. It is my prayer that we are all obedient in our response to the call for we are the chosen people of the Lord. The time is now! We need a Word from the Lord. God has called and anointed us for such a time as this.
