There is a sense of urgency that God expects when He calls upon us. There are so many needs in the lives of God’s people. There are people who are hurting and crying out for help. Everywhere we go, we see signs of despair. We need a life-saving word from the Lord. The time for our response to the call is now! This is not just for the preacher, but also for every believer. The reality is that we are all ministers of the gospel; to preach to all believers is a calling on all of our lives. In the book of Isaiah 61:1, we find these words:

“The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is upon me, for the Lord has anointed me to bring good news to the poor. He has sent me to comfort the brokenhearted and to proclaim that captives will be released and prisoners will be freed.”

Isaiah says that the Lord has anointed, called, and sent him to proclaim the good news of the Lord. Isaiah answered the call and was equipped with the Holy Spirit and God’s presence and power that he needed in order to deliver the message to the people.   It is my prayer that when we are called by God, we will respond like Isaiah — we will all be obedient in our response to the call.  We are the chosen people of the Lord, and when He calls, the time for our response is now! God will equip us with all that we need.
