NO SHORT CUTS

There are no shortcuts in life.  Anything worth having is worth the wait. I would argue strongly that far too many people are looking for an easy way out, in other words, looking for a shortcut. But one thing is true in our walk with God, there are no shortcuts.  One must endure the race that is set before them.  The race is not given to the swift but to those who endure. But we must have patience, diligence, and be willing to go all the way and not look for an easy way out. In Proverbs 21:5,we find these words:

Good planning and hard work lead to prosperity, but hasty shortcuts lead to poverty.

The writer says that we must persevere, work hard, and not look for shortcuts. To be successful, we should bring honor to God by following this guidance. When you get a chance, read these words. In my office are some words that serve as a reminder of what God is calling us to do. The words are, “Stay humble. Work hard. Be kind.” We need to make sure that we are each carrying out the words of this devotion. Never look for an easy way out!
