Those who look to the Lord in times of stress and pain will have no shame on their faces. Their faces will be radiant with joy. It is amazing how God’s people go through trials and troubles and remain joyful. We know the joy of the Lord is our strength. Let me be transparent once again. I used to wonder how people could keep a smile on their face as they endured life’s troubles. I have come to realize that when you talk to God and rely on Him, there is a joy that you have that the world cannot give or take away. Today’s devotion, Psalm 34:5, speaks clearly about not having shame on our faces.

“Those who look to him for help will be radiant with joy; no shadow of shame will darken their faces.”

In this chapter, the psalmist shares his personal testimony as he speaks what he knows firsthand. He says, “I sought the Lord and he answered me”. The psalmist calls on those who are in trouble to follow his example. Look to the Lord and be radiant. Their sad countenance will turn to joy because they looked to God. All those who seek him will have a reflection of radiance about them, for the angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear Him. “O Taste and see that the Lord is good,” the psalmist writes. Prayerfully, whatever you might be going through, you still have joy. Your face and your heart are filled with the radiance of His presence.
