NO ONE IS ALWAYS GOOD

I have been so blessed to share with you these daily devotions.  Prayerfully, they have been a blessing to you as you read them.  I can say without a doubt they have encouraged me, blessed me, and even convicted me. I, like every individual, am subject to the same things I write about.  I realize now as I write this devotion that at my best, I still fall short. I can say without hesitation, when I would do good evil is always present.  The things I don’t want to do, I find myself doing.  I try to be honest which sometimes requires me to be vulnerable.  However, I know I’m not alone; therefore, I need to take inventory of my own life as I ask others to do the same.  I recognize each day we are not saved by works less any of us should boast. No matter how many good deeds we do, or how others might refer to us as being good, the truth is, none of us is always good. We all have our bad days, and sometimes those bad days last for weeks or even months.  Let me say it again, no one is always good.  Ecclesiastes 7:20 records these words:

“Not a single person on earth is always good and never sins.”

Here the writer penned the truth. He indicates there is no just person upon the earth. He provides these words of wisdom, so we do not get puffed up or think we have arrived.  The writer indicates no one can say she or he is without sin. He goes on to write about the blessings that come to those who fear and love God.  This is a very short verse. Wow! It is deep and speaks to the very heart of each of us. Simply said, no one is good all the time.  Only God is without fault, without sin, and without shortcomings.  We can say, God is good and all the time God is good.
