There comes a time in our lives when we thirst for God. Nothing else can satisfy our hungry souls. God and God alone can quench our thirst. It is God who we can rely on when our soul runs dry. There will be times in our lives when we will find ourselves seeking God in ways we have never done before. Think for a few moments what the Coronavirus has done this year and how we have longed to draw closer to God. Thanks be unto God that as we draw near to Him, He will draw near to us. Let me also repeat, if you have never thirsted after the Lord, just keep on living. There will be a time when you need Him to fill you with grace and mercy. When you have tried everything and nothing has satisfied your longing read today’s scripture in Psalm 42:1.

“As the deer longs for streams of water, so I long for you, O God.”

The writer begins this psalm by crying out to the Lord. His soul is thirsty. He longs for the Lord and makes a personal testimony about the conflict in his soul. He is lonely and his tears flow night and day. He needs the presence of God, as he has never needed it before. Throughout this psalm, he shares his heart and his journey. The psalmist’s soul is cast down. In his loneliness, he remembers God’s mercy. Thanks be unto God! The psalmist is blessed in knowing that God is his rock and salvation. Know today, beyond the shadow of doubt that God will satisfy your thirst and meet your every need.
