MEDITATE ON THESE THINGS
I remember a bible study session when the instructor called us to meditate to focus on the things of God. I thought about our need to be intentional in our meditations, clearing our mind so that we can stay focused on God. Our mind can be cluttered; however, when we focus on God, we find new and exciting experiences in our lives.
Today’s scripture, Philippians 4:8, explains what it means to meditate on the things of God:
“Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.”
Paul wants the believer to stay focused and stay connected to God, and he wants to provide his readers set standards that they can apply to their lives. Paul goes through great lengths to share Christian principles of how we are to behave. Paul teaches about true prayer, worship, and love for God. We should meditate today, thinking of these things: the virtues of God, the love of God, the presence of God and the power of God. All believers should think on these things!
