May God Rule In Our Lives
For the next several days, these devotions will be derived from the gospel of Matthew. It is my fervent prayer that as we cast our eyes upon this gospel, that it will speak to our hearts. Today’s devotion is another part of the Lord’s Prayer. This matter of God ruling in our lives is so important: as we pray, we should always pray that God’s will be done in our lives. In Matthew 6:10, we find these words:
“Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in Heaven.”
These are the 2nd and 3rd petitions of the Lord’s prayer. It is so important that we catch hold of the words in this prayer. May the Father’s will be done on earth as it is in Heaven. All authority derives from God. The Kingdom exists because of God. “Thy will be done,” is an acknowledgement that we have submitted to His will and that He reigns and rules over our lives. We are obligated to obey, serve and surrender ourselves unto Him. Our lives are not our own, but placed under the authority of God. May all that we do, say and think be a result of having God as Ruler over our lives. May we submit ourselves to Him. And may we learn to say “Lord, whatever your will, let it be done.”
