Loyalty to God
We know that God is loyal to us, but we need to ask ourselves if we are loyal to Him. There are so many things that claim our attention, and it seems that we are loyal to those things. Matthew 6:21 says, “’For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.’” Being loyal to God means putting Him first in our lives and honoring Him at all times. Being loyal to God means that even when we are in the minority, we can be counted on, because we are aware of His presence in our lives. It also means that we strive to keep His commandments to be kind to one another, and to be faithful in what God has given to us to do. In John 20:28, we find these words:
“’My Lord and my God!’ Thomas exclaimed.”
Thomas was not present with the rest of the disciples when Jesus appeared. Thomas was still in disbelief that this was truly the Master- until the Master told him to look at His hands and to put his hands in the wounds in His side. With all the evidence we have about our faithful God, many of us are still unfaithful. Thanks be unto God that His love for us never wanes. May we be strengthened today with the knowledge that God is loyal and He will never leave or forsake us (Hebrews 13:5).
