I remember my pastor, the Reverend Dr. Albert Franklin Campbell, Pastor Emeritus of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, preaching a profound sermon about loving the Lord with all your heart. In that message, he shared many personal experiences about how he questioned God at times. He said that regardless of our intellect, one must have a deep love for God with all heart, soul and mind. We cannot love the Lord half-heartedly. He needs to have all of us! Proverbs 3:5, today’s devotion, references how to love the Lord with all your heart.

“Trust in the LORD with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding.”

The writer of this wisdom literature writes about the need to trust the Lord completely. Once again, the word “trust” is emphasized. The secret of finding God’s ways and His blessings is to trust Him with your whole heart. It is easier to lean upon our own understanding than to lean upon Him. Before we make plans, we need to put our complete trust in God for He knows the way we take. Consult the Lord in every aspect of life. We should acknowledge God in all things we do for He is the source of true wisdom and power. Put your hope and faith and trust in Him. I close with these words. “All things work together for good to them that love the Lord.” Even when we do not understand the things happening in our lives, trust God and ultimately you will discover the plans He has for your life
