LOVE THE LORD WITH ALL YOUR HEART
Today’s devotion entitled, Love The Lord With All Your Heart, is something that every child of God should do. We should love Him with all our hearts, our minds, our souls and all that is within us. We cannot love Him or serve Him half-heartedly. We must surrender our complete self and the center of our love and of our hearts. His love for us is so great that it requires us to love Him completely. Yes, love Him more than anything else does in this world: more than our spouses, children, and parents. That is not to say that we should not love them, but we thank the Giver of the gift more than the gifts. We love Him completely as found in Matthew 22:37.
“Jesus replied, ‘You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.’”
The Master gives the First Commandment in this text about a loyal, deep and true love: agape love. It is unconditional and our response should be a sincere and true love. In addition, as we love God with their hearts, souls and minds, we are called to love our neighbor. You cannot really love your neighbor without first loving God. This is not a fleshly love, but a love embedded with grace and mercy. “What’s love got to do with it?” EVERYTHING! We cannot simply say, “I like God”, but “I love God.” We can also say, “I am in love with God.” Prayerfully, you can say that you are in love with God.
