LOVE IS AN ACTION WORD
This is a simple devotion. It is not hard to understand that love is an action word. You say, “I love you”, but it must be followed with some action. Love is not love, without action. It’s more than what you say, it’s what you do. I would argue strongly that many of us are good at expressing our love in words, but the reality is that we do not always follow with actions of love. Love is sacrificial. Love is giving. Love is
sharing. Love is an action word. God loves us so much. He showed His love for us by sending His Son, Jesus Christ, to die on the Cross to pay for our sins. That’s love! In 1 John 3:18, we find these words:
“Dear children, let’s not merely say we love each other; let us show the truth by our actions.”
The writer makes it clear that love is an action word. He said that we must show love to one another and prove that we have come to know God. We know what real love is because Jesus gave His life for us. Read this entire chapter. This story gives us the guidelines and the instructions for love. Prayerfully, we are following the instructions left for us in His Word by serving God with all our hearts, souls, and minds. It is my prayer that each of us show love every day in every way.
