LORD COME QUICKLY

There are times in our lives when we cry out for the Lord to come quickly. Life’s pressures can overwhelm us, and we need the Lord to hasten to our call. But there are also times when we must wait on the Lord. According to Isaiah 40:31, “But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength” (KJV). Even as we wait, we ask the Lord to hurry and come see about us. I don’t know if you have ever been in a situation when you needed the Lord to come quickly, but I am sure that the time will come. Those midnight hours and those lonely days will cause you to plead to the Lord to rush to your aide. In Psalm 141:1, we find these words:

“O Lord, I am calling to you. Please hurry! Listen when I cry to you for help!”

The psalmist offers God a prayer that flows from his heart. He wants the Lord to give ear to his voice. He is pouring out a petition for protection from the spiritual temptations taking place in his godless community. He is surrounded by evil and his prayer is for a righteous heart. What a wonderful testimony the psalmist offers to us! He is not being judgmental or self-righteous, but rather he is simply seeking God’s protection. It is my prayer today that God will protect our children as they are faced with so much wickedness and criminal activity. We want God to do it quickly because we know that our children are placed in evil environments every day. We reach out to God today and simply say, “Lord come quickly.”
