I love butterflies; they are a symbol of new life. In fact, the Word of God says we are new creatures in Christ (2 Corinthians 5:17); consequently, we are compelled to live in the light of the Spirit. Our lives should give evidence that we are living the light of Christ. The Spirit gives us joy, peace, and fulfillment. We are known by the fruits we bear. In Matthew 7:16, we find these words:

“You can identify them by their fruit, that is, by the way they act. Can you pick grapes from thornbushes, or figs from thistles?”

Our lives reveal the fruits we bear. The writer indicates that every good tree brings forth good fruit, and every tree that is not good brings forth bad fruit (verse 17). Prayerfully, we are living in the light of the Spirit, bearing good fruit, remembering we are the light of the world (Matt 5:14). May our lights shine bright and may we always bear good fruit.
